Chapter 4: Ways to Better Utilize Facebook in Marketing

     Facebook is generalized as a primarily older form of social media, however it can be a great tool if utilized correctly by organizations in promotional and marketing activity. With this social platform being one of the oldest of them all comes the stigma of its only users being the older generations.     I was not aware of the successes Facebook has seen in the global setting, with the top countries being India, United States, Indonesia, Brazil and Mexico. This platform is also one of the only reach more than half of internet users at nearly 2.9 billion monthly active users worldwide. 

    This chapter introduces the history of Facebook and the story of founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg. The author then goes into detail about some significant 2023 statistics regarding the social platform. Some of these statistics include: largest age group (25-34), total ad revenue ($48.68 billion) and average time spent per month (19.7 hours).

    The author then walks the reader through the actual action of setting up a proper Facebook page, which includes multiple aids such as samples and tutorials. 

In 2020, Meta Business Suite was released to replace Facebook Analytics. This resource offers a variety of tools that make it easier for businesses to manage their Facebook and Instagram pages and profiles on one single interface. Some tips to better utilize this resource include: 

- Use the Calendar function to plan your content and keep track of all posts and stories across Facebook and Instagram

- Save time publishing by creating and scheduling posts and stories directly in Calendar function 

- Save posts and stories to Drafts function, so you can edit, copy and reschedule as needed 

    This chapter also discusses building an audience on this platform, components of your Facebook post, content strategy, and utilizing Facebook for advertising. 

Looking forward, I believe that Facebook, as well as, Instagram are going nowhere and have held a tight grasp on the social media community for almost 20 years.
